He tends to think much and say little, his words carefully chosen and almost foreign in a way, but he will occasionally soften up and show a more gentle side of himself when he feels particularly comfortable with a situation. He's highly intelligent and unafraid to show it, which tends to make him come off as arrogant, though his obvious awkwardness in interacting with others seems to cut the bite somewhat and make him generally more tolerable. He prefers solitude and can usually be found in Carmina Gadelica with only the sentient AIs for company, though he doesn't seem to mind when certain other people join him. His weapon is the Lotus Scythe, a large, heavy weapon with four glowing blades that fold up into one when the scythe is not in use.

In the real world, Arumat is Ichimatsu Haruya, the younger brother of CC Corp administrator Ichimatsu Katsura. Unlike his brother, he's much more closed off and reserved, and it's not a stretch to describe him as "socially awkward"; perhaps that's what makes him such a perfect fit for CC Corp's internship program, which he's just recently entered into. Unlike most of the other interns, and even the full-time employees, he doesn't seem to mind the Avatar invasions and often ends up with a few of them hiding in his office whenever they've done something particularly annoying. Despite his reserved nature and dislike of interaction, he nevertheless pays great attention to how others see him, perhaps as a result of always living in his brother's shadow - though that's not to say the two of them don't get along, because they've launched some of the biggest and best computer wars in company history together. He's fairly tall with black hair, slightly too long, and dark blue eyes.

Even despite that tendency, he can often be found questing with random people, more than willing to lend them a hand; when he's not busy, he often spends his time keeping Arumat and the sentient AIs company, or hanging out with Edge, the first real friend he made in the game. An extremely proficient Symbologist, he enjoys the challenge of working his way through difficult areas and trying to figure out just how far he can make it without help. She's also extremely talented in battle and more than once has managed to get out of seemingly-impossible situations, earning her the nickname of the "Divine Archer", and her mixed intelligence and skill have made her one of the most desired girls in the game. She seems completely unaware of her "fan club" and their affection towards her, however, though whether she's ignoring it on purpose or genuinely has no idea is up in the air. She's most often found in Mac Anu near the @HOME of her guild, a small group for the few players who have chosen the Arcarius class, but can also be found in Carmina Gadelica looking out over the bridge to the liminality. He and his best friend, Fuyaku Ryuu, started playing The World at the same time, and when they visited the Hulle Granz Cathedral, Kazumi found himself struck by a wave of fear and refused to go inside at first; only after Ryuu was attacked by Tri-Edge did he dare venture inside, and was unknowingly infected with a seed of AIDA himself at the very same time, corrupting his character to the point where he could simply pass through data as though it were air, but registering no infection. His character was destroyed with the defeat of Tri-Edge, and along with Ryuu, he started over, the both of them making a promise never to go near the Cathedral again. Apart from the game, he's easily teased and tends to get embarrassed at the drop of a hat, which Ryuu always playfully takes advantage of. He's a bit overly tall, giving him a lanky, coltish appearance, and has short brown hair and grey eyes.
